According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s Annual Cyber Threat Report July 2019 to June 2020, cyber criminals most commonly use phishing and spearphishing (a highly targeted form of phishing with bespoke emails) to gather user credentials and personal information.

So far during the pandemic, there has been a reported increase in spearphishing campaigns and COVID-19 themed malicious cyber activity.
